Dear Folks,
Thanks so very much for your love and prayers for us as we serve
the Lord through the ministry of Harbour Light radio on our
little island of Carriacou. I have a few prayer requests and
would appreciate your praying for them.
1) Pray for the Bible Club I am currently conducting each
week for the children in our local public primary school. Many
of these children are un-churched and know very little about the
Bible and the true way of salvation. My granddaughter Mary has
been helping me with the Club. We have had between 20 and 30
children here in my living room. Pray that they will understand
the way of salvation and that some will trust Christ as their
Saviour.
2) Pray for a weekly Bible study I am having with two
Christian ladies. They need encouragement to learn how to study
the Word of God for themselves, so that they will not need to be
"spoon-fed" the Word! Pray the same for the ladies in our
Ladies Sunday School class. I team-teach that class along with
two other ladies at church.
3) Pray for me as I plan programs for our daily 30-minute
Captain's Kids radio program to be aired while I am in the USA
for approximately 6 months.
4) I have an appointment with the orthopedic surgeon in
Greenville, SC on July 14th for his evaluation of my knee
problem. Pray for wisdom regarding the treatment and/or surgery
needed to repair my knee.
Sharlene, Mary, and I have our tickets for our flight to
Charlotte, NC on July 4th. I will spend a few days in the
mountains with my three sisters and their husbands for a
sisters' reunion when I arrive there. Daughter Becky Ekberg and
her family will be at the same place in the TN mountains for
their vacation, and I'll be able to spend a few days there with
them after the sisters leave Lord willing.
Thank you for your interest and prayers. The Harbour Light May
News/Prayer letter follows.

Hello!
I have recently returned
from a trip to the islands of Dominica and Antigua where I had a
sweet time with son Tony and Martha and my seven grandchildren, and
son Jonathan and his wife Becky. Granddaughter Mary (Randy's second
daughter) was my traveling companion.
Dominica is a beautiful mountainous
unspoiled island with many exotic tropical flowers and trees. The
Lord is using Tony to plant a church in the difficult village of
Marigot, and has blessed that ministry with a few families and a
number of young people. He and Martha are also taking care of two
teen-age brothers who need a home and one needs help with remedial
education. Martha is teaching him along with her children.
Please pray for
Tony's health. For several months he has been experiencing
difficulties with a racing heart, though he has been able to keep up
with the church activities most of the time. Their family will be
returning to the USA for furlough tomorrow
when they will have physical check-ups. Pray that the
Doctors will be able to find what is causing his heart to race and
find a solution to the problem.
Pray also for the
young couple who will be taking over the church during Tony's
absence. Axel Auguiste is a Carib Indian, a native of Dominica, and
recently graduated from Bible School in Puerto Rico where he met his
sweet wife, Nikki, who is from the Dominican Republic. They have a
ministry of teaching special needs children in Axel's home area.
Jonathan and Becky keep very busy
with their medical and emergency work on the island of Antigua.
Pray for Jonathan as he heads up the Antigua and Barbuda
Search and Rescue organization. He gets calls for help both on land
and sea all hours of the day and night 24/7. He is training a
volunteer team to assist in that work. Becky continues as nurse for
a local pediatrician, and is involved with many families on the
island through her work. Pray that the Lord will
give both Jonathan and Becky many opportunities to witness to those
they serve. They attend the Maranatha Baptist Church there in
Antigua.
Lord willing, I will be returning the USA in July to have surgery
to repair my knee. It has deteriorated to the point that I'm unable
to walk on it without a full leg brace and cane. I will appreciate
your prayers in this regard. I praise the Lord
that I can still drive and go to the Harbour Light to continue my
ministry there as well as continue ministry in music and teaching
ladies at church.
Here
are some praises and prayer requests for the ministry of the Harbour
Light.
1) Praise the
Lord for the safe arrival of a baby girl, Haddasah Leanne Louis in
the family of staff members Linus and Jennifer Louis.
2) Praise the
Lord for the Registration just received for the Harbour Light
Christian Academy, after years of waiting.
3) Praise
the Lord for helping John
McPherson and John Steel as they worked
to sort out the problems with our FM equipment. In
the process, they discovered that we had too many elements on the
antenna. Without the two problem elements, our listeners are able
to hear the FM much better. Many of our listeners on the
main island of Grenada are not able to hear the broadcasts on AM
because the signal is blocked by mountains. Our FM equipment is set
up on top of the Grand Etang mountains in Grenada.
4) Praise the
Lord for His faithful provision of the finances needed to purchase
fuel for the Harbour Light generators and provision for the many
other expenses of the station. Pray for His
continued provision.

03/22/06 Dear Folks, A big HELLO from little Carriacou – the island of “singing kites!” This is kite season in Carriacou and most of the boys, big and little, are having fun making home-made kites – adjusted so that they sing in the wind! If you visit us and think that a giant bumble bee is after you, just look up ... you'll see a kite somewhere above you in the sky! The fellows tie the string to a tree and let it fly as long as possible in our wonderful breeze. Lord willing, I'll be taking my furlough this year. I plan to be in the States from July 2006 until March or April, 2007. I would like to take part in my BJU graduating class's 50th reunion at Bible Conference, if possible, before returning to Carriacou! next year (Of course, I can't really be THAT OLD! :) In order for me to leave, we need someone to come short term (for about 9 months) who can take my place doing the bookkeeping for the Harbour Light. Please PRAY for the Lord to lead someone to take on this opportunity. PRAY also for the Lord to provide a lady to travel with me for furlough meetings and help with the driving, etc. I would not be able to do that alone this time. PRAISE the Lord for all of His blessings and provision for the Harbour Light Radio Ministry. The Lord is allowing us to expand our coverage to reach out world-wide! We are now “on-line” and you can listen to the greatest station in the world. Just go to our web-site, listed below and click on “LISTEN!” If you don't have a compatible player on your computer, click on “Instructions” to down-load the free WinAmp player or VLC media player. Thank you again for your love, concern, and especially for your prayers! Thanks for praying! I know I can count on you! God bless you! . Arlene Cornelius
December 2005 Christmas greetings from the beautiful little island of Carriacou! I thank the Lord for His wonderful love and salvation! It is so wonderful to know Him as my Saviour. I praise Him for the privilege of sharing Him with others here on our little island, and out from here to many other islands here in the Caribbean through the voice of the Harbour Light radio station. What a joy it is to read letters and e-mails from our listeners, telling how the Lord has used the ministry of the Harbour Light in their lives. Thank you for your part in this ministry through your prayers and support in so many ways.
The end of August my house mate, Abby, and I moved into our apartment in the new mission house! Praise the Lord for His provision of finances and for all the teams and our own men here who expended many hours of hard work to bring this about. We started building the mission house more than 4 years ago. Pray for the completion of the guest/team apartment in the “basement.” Shortly after we moved in, the Lord brought another young lady to live with us ... Paula Monrose from St. Lucia. She and Abby are both teaching at the Harbour Light Christian Academy. Paula hopes to get her “green card” soon so she can return to Florida to continue teaching in a Christian school there.
Pease pray for the Lord's provision of the funds needed for the operating costs of the Harbour Light. The fuel costs to run our generators has risen more than 30% in the last month. We are in the process of getting the broadcasts going out over the Internet, and also over short wave. Pray for these new outlets to be completed very soon, and that the Lord will use them to reach many more folks with the Gospel. We praise the Lord for several new broadcasters who have joined our broadcast team recently.
God bless you!
