How to get to Heaven from Carriacou, Grenada!
Once upon a time there was a boy from Brunswick who wanted to go to New York. So he began to ask people how to get there. A fisherman from Windward told him that there was a big ocean between Carriacou and New York. The boy said, "I could swim, wee". "You na go mek it, boy," said the man, "You go droung". "Me na droung," replied the boy. So he went down to the beach and started to swim. "He na even mek haf de way to de reef an' he frighten an' com' back," reported an old lady. When he arrived back home he found his mommy reading a letter from her sister in New York. "You Auntie say she buy a ticket for you to go to New York. All you mus' do is go down by de airport and pick up de ticket and get on de airplane an' come," said his mommy. "Me na believe dat," said the boy, "Me na trust nobody." "How you expect to get to New York if you na trust nobody to take you deh," said his mommy. "You t'ink you can reach by you'self? - no way." "How I go' pay fo' dat ticket?," asked the boy, "Me en't got no money." "You en't have to pay for it," replied his mother, "you jes haf to take it!"
Sad to say, most people think like that boy when it comes to how a person gets to Heaven. The Bible says that there is only one way to get to Heaven. Jesus Himself says I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6) The Bible says we can't get there by ourselves. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8,9) Why can't we get there by ourselves? The Bible explains: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23) God cannot allow sin in heaven. Sin must be punished. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23) God has a gift for you. The gift is Life! How can this be? Because God loves you. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16) Do you believe these things? You must in order to receive the gift. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved. (Acts 16:31) Sin is an internal problem and cannot be cured with external cures. You cannot get to Heaven from Carriacou or any place else by doing good, by being baptized, by going to church or by keeping the law. All these things are like trying to swim to New York. Your ticket to Heaven is already paid for - believe it and receive it! But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. (John 1:12)
